Visitors to China usually get struck down with a case or two of the
dreaded traveller's diarhea. Living here does toughen you up somewhat,
but in the end you will have plenty of opportunities to get up close
and personal with your bathroom floor- as I did again last night.

The baby moses basket I bought for about $10 on www.taobao.com - a
Chinese website for online retailers. You can get almost anything on
this site, and at amazing prices. The only catch is that it's all in
Chinese.
I made the liner myself as a project when i was bored on a rainy
afternoon.

A screen shot of the alarm clock on my phone- mercifully switched off,
as today is the first day of 8 weeks of summer holidays. Definitely
one good reason for being a teacher!

A photo of bamboo from our trip to Moganshan, which I manipulated

watching the world go by as I babysat him this afternoon.

Highway tollbooths- they look much the same in all countries (although
in china they are all staffed, not automated).

A small old house in the bamboo forest. Unfortunately, and
deceptively, this is the only side of it still standing, with the rest
in ruins. It doesn't stop me from day dreaming about buying it and
fixing it up though!

The view from our balcony in the cabin we are staying in for the
weekend in Moganshan- bamboo forest about 3 hours out of Shanghai.

More window art: I drew and cut this out of black and red 'contact'
paper, though the design is taken from a picture I found online. The
"chain" extends to the top of the window frame. It was a bit tricky to
apply without getting it tangled once the backing was peeled off, but
it worked in the end.

This is our neighbours box for good old fashioned milk delivery from
Shanghai Bright Dairy company. You usually put a lock on the outer
door and the company has the key for the inner door. At about 5 am
they deliver your order (milk or yoghurt) daily without having to
bother you as the box is outside your door, and you only need to pay
and order once a month. What a great idea!
